The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Wednesday approved a drug to treat the symptoms of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. The treatment is called, which is an oral drug called Viagra.
The drug is being administered to treat the symptoms of, the first FDA-approved treatment for ED. The drug was originally approved by the agency in 1998 for patients with the underlying condition known as androgenic alopecia, but the FDA rejected that drug based on its safety concerns.
The drug has not received approval for men over the age of 40, and the agency is working to make Viagra available for use by men who have had surgery to treat erectile dysfunction. The drug will be sold only through a third-party seller,.
The FDA said that it has not received any positive experience with the drug, and it will not recommend any use for men with severe or chronic conditions.

The agency said it will continue to work with Pfizer to develop a treatment that may help men who have ED.

Men in the UK will be able to buy Viagra over the counter after consulting with a pharmacist and without a prescription for the first time today.
ViagraConnect manufacturer, Pfizer, estimates more than a fifth of men aged over 18 in Britain suffer from erectile dysfunction, but almost half of those over 40 have not sought medical help.
